靜宜大學榮獲國內第一所成立「CUDA教學中心」的大學

  靜宜大學獲得NVIDIA公司即全球視覺與運算技術領導廠商,成為國內第一所成立「CUDA教學中心」的大學。

  CUDA是NVIDIA公司所開發的平行運算架構,使開發者在使用繪圖處理器GPU上,能實際大幅提升運算效能。成為「CUDA教學中心」的大學帶來諸多助益,包括NVIDIA公司所提供的教科書、軟體授權、教學實驗室電腦系統中的CUDA架構GPU硬體等教材的捐贈,以及技術服務的支援,因此,不僅為大學院校建置一個便利教授從事教學工作的環境,同時更提供學生在CUDA程式設計的環境中實際演練,達到即教即學的目的。

  成為「CUDA教學中心」也讓靜宜大學能再度擁有與國外多所世界知名大學,包括美國普渡大學、密西根州立大學、南加州大學、聖荷西州立大學、加拿大麥克馬斯特大學、義大利卡塔尼亞大學、德國卡塞爾大學…等大學,具備相同水平的儀器設備、教材,以及教學與研究環境。

  CUDA教學中心地點將設立於本校資訊學院,由NVIDIA提供軟、硬體設備的協助,提供學校師生使用先進的技術進行教學與研究,促進CUDA設計與開發之教學與研究工作的推動,並結合現有之課程,訓練學生具備高度平行處理技術、執行高效能應用程式的專業能力,培育兼具理論及實用技能之資訊技術整合人才,提昇就業競爭力。



Providence University named first CUDA Teaching Center in Taiwan   



  Providence University in Taiwan has been named a CUDA Teaching Center by NVIDIA, the world leader in visual and high-performance computing.


  CUDA is NVIDIA's parallel computing architecture that enables dramatic increases in computing performance by harnessing the power of the graphics processing units (GPUs). The CUDA Teaching Center program recognizes institutions that have integrated GPU computing techniques into their mainstream computer programming curriculum. Program benefits include the donation of teaching kits, software licenses and NVIDIAR CUDAR architecture-enabled GPUs for teaching lab computers, as well as academic discounts for additional hardware, if required.


  As a CUDA Teaching Center, Providence University has the opportunity to keep pace with world renowned universities, including Purdue University, Michigan State University, University of Southern California, San Jose State University in the U.S., McMurdoLancaster University in Canada, University of Catania in Italy, University of Kassel in Germany, SudParis Telecom in France, among others, that have similar GPU computing educational resources.


  The CUDA Teaching Center will be located in College of Computing and Informatics, providing an environment with up-to-date technologies to teachers and students for instruction, research and to promoting the CUDA parallel programming model. In combination with existing curriculum, it will cultivate students' theoretical and practical skills in parallel programming, as also to increase their competence and competitiveness in the high-tech job market.


  More than 500 universities and institutions are now teaching parallel programming based on the NVIDIA CUDA parallel programming environment, empowering the tens-of-thousands of students graduating each year with the knowledge and expertise to leverage the immense parallel processing power of GPUs.
