The Department
of Computer Science and Information Engineering stays informed on
new trends in information processing and management so that we can
predict future industry needs and prepare our students to meet them.
The curriculum features and projected future development of the
department are outlined below.
A. Curriculum Features:
1.Strengthening studentsˇ¦ level of competence in designing
integrated circuits:
Our new,
cutting-edge Electronic Design Automation (EDA) lab will allow
hardware design students to develop competency in the newest
integrated circuit design techniques and hardware. Our connections
with alumni in the Central Taiwan Science Park enable us to provide
this important edge to our graduates.
2.Incorporating biological technology with information technology:
Biological
technology will continue to lead Taiwan to the forefront of
industrial achievement. Providence graduates will be leaders in the
field because we have united all research teams in the areas of
biological and information technology in our classrooms so they will
already be pioneers of teamwork in this field.
3.Developing network multimedia applications:
As we continue
to develop network applications, our focus will be on digital image
processing, computerized visual effects, voiceover IP, digitalized
albums, parallel algorithms, and grid computing.
B. Future Development:
1.Achieve
balanced development in both software and hardware and emphasize
equally
both theory and application.
2.Design
comprehensive curricula integrating theories, application, and new
emerging
technology.
3.Maintain
good co-operative relationship with high-technology corporations.
C. International Students Appeal
Providence
graduates can:
1.Find their
desired careers in high-technology companies in Taiwan Science Park.
2.Come back
here for their masterˇ¦s degree after they are employed. |
